Classroom News & Notes

November 17, 2008

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and is enjoying the beautiful fall weather. Just a reminder, Report cards are overdue and need to be turned in as soon as possible. Also it is National Education Week from November 17-21. We will be honoring different parts of the education system throughout the week. Monday is school spirit day. Tuesday, students will receive a free slushie. Wednesday is teacher appreciation day. Thursday we will remember our great substitute teachers.

The Beta Club Convention is next week in Nashville. Please make sure your student is keeping you up to date on any news. The Beta Club is sponsoring a Toys for Tots. All Beta Club members need to bring a toy to get into the meeting. Also, a Convention meeting is this week. Check with your student for further details.

The morning and afternoon tutoring program is in full swing now. If you would like your child to participate in tutoring the morning hours are 7:00-7:45 and after school from 3:15-4:30. It is really a great program for all students.

In Language Arts this week, we will be having exams on Wednesday and Thursday. The students have a unit test on Pronouns on Wednesday. They have a study guide and a practice test. This exam is a double score for the third marking period.

Finally, in some academic news. We have a few students that are not earning the points for the end of the year reward trip to Dollywood. Please make sure your child is aware on the importance of limiting zero. A student must make 2 of 3 six-weeks rewards to attend the dance. Also, they must make 4 of 5 to go to Dollywood.

Well that is it from my end. We are now in the third marking period, and the students are expected to take on more responsibility. Please remind your child to complete homework and bring his/her planner home. Again, I appreciate your help.

Thank you for your patience and support. You have amazing children and I am thankful for the opportunity to work with them.

Have a great week.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Holweg
